Why we put Simiron on the shelf

A rep can hand you a glossy data sheet. None of that survives a four-in-the-afternoon pour. Here is why Simiron made the bench, and what 100% solids buys you on the slab.

A box of Simiron sat on the bench here for a while before any of it went up for sale. That is the rule, and it does not bend for a brand name. The owner ran the 1000HS base on a real floor, watched it flow, walked it the next morning, and put traffic on it. Only then did it earn a spot on the shelf you order from.

What 100% solids actually means

Solvent-borne coatings carry a chunk of their volume as a carrier that flashes off as the film cures. You roll on a certain thickness, and a third of it leaves as vapor. The number on the bucket is not the number on the floor. A 100% solids product does not do that. What you put down is what stays down.

For a working installer that is real money and real predictability. Your mil thickness is honest, your coverage math holds, and you are not venting a room full of solvent while you work. Simiron builds its primers and topcoats this way, from the 1000HS epoxy base up through the CERAFIN and urethane topcoats. The film you place is the film that protects the slab.

What you put down is what stays down. That is the whole pitch for 100% solids.

What we ran before we carried it

We did not stock the whole catalog on day one. We ran the parts a Tracy crew is actually going to reach for, and we judged each one the way a customer judges a finished floor: in working light, under foot traffic, over a few weeks.

  • 1000HS as the body coat, watching flow and self-priming on a tight-troweled slab
  • A polyaspartic and a urethane topcoat over flake, checking cure speed against the clock
  • The MVB primer on a slab we knew was damp, to see if it held
  • The decorative chip and metallic line for color and depth, not just the spec chart

This is not an ad

Simiron is one of several manufacturers we carry, and it is on the shelf because it does specific jobs well, not because we are pushing a single house brand. A residential garage and a wash-down kitchen are different problems, and you should be able to walk in and get the right line for the slab in front of you instead of a compromise.

If you are weighing Simiron against what you already run, tell us the slab and the job. We have poured this line, so you get a straight answer from someone who has actually used the thing you are asking about, not a sticker on a bucket. See every Simiron product we stock when you are ready to compare.
